Our History

The Kurt Geiger Story

The original Kurt Geiger store first opened its doors in Britain’s fashion capital on Bond Street, London in 1963. Since then the brand has continued to evolve, making covetable footwear and accessories for fashion-forward and characterful women and men around the world.
A true fashion authority, Kurt Geiger – named after the brand’s Austrian founder - blends iconic London style with urban wearability to create daring and recognisable designs at the forefront of fashion. Kurt Geiger now has over 70 stores as well as over 170 concessions in department stores, including Harrods and Selfridges, and sells over four million pairs of shoes a year.

1963

Kurt Geiger opens its first stores on Sloane Street and Bond Street, London

1977

Kurt Geiger opens its first concession in Harrods, Knightsbridge

1978

Kurt Geiger and Carvela merge companies

1991

Kurt Geiger opens a new concession in Selfridges, Oxford Street

1995

Kurt Geiger launches their first men's collection

1997

Kurt Geiger launches edgier line KG Kurt Geiger to reach a fashionable consumer

2001

Kurt Geiger launches new store concept, designed by the architect John Field it is described as ‘a jewellery shop for shoes’

2006

Kurt Geiger launches; KURTGEIGER.COM

2007

Kurt Geiger expands into Middle East and Europe

2009

Kurt Geiger introduces the 'Stiletto' as brand signature style, launching a range with over 100 different colours

2011

Kurt Geiger introduces 'Everything But The Dress' accessories concept branding out into every type of accessory. This coincided with the re-launch of KURTGEIGER.COM

2012

Kurt Geiger expands into North America

2013

Kurt Geiger celebrates its 50th Anniversary, releasing 200 golden ‘Belgravia,’ stiletto sandals. Kurt Geiger launches Miss KG, a new brand aimed at a younger, highly fashion conscious, consumer.

2014

Kurt Geiger opens Shoe Heaven in Harrods, created by David Collins Studio. The brand also continues market expansion in China and Australia

2016

Kurt Geiger launches Mini Miss KG a brand new playful range for 4 – 12 year olds

2017

Kurt Geiger introduces the Kensington handbag, complete with its iconic eagle emblem detailing as a brand signature style

2018

Kurt Geiger opens the first Kurt Geiger London boutique in Selfridges, designed by the esteemed architect, Jamie Forbert. In July the brand launched its first ‘characterful style,’ campaign featuring Joan Collins and Jay-Kay from Jamiroquai. Kurt Geiger continues to expand in North America and Europe. Kurt Geiger opens the first Carvela boutique in Westfield, White City.
